Shadow Cloud

I first learned about shadow clouds years ago after seeing an article about a pair of Swiss artists who were using them in their installations. I fell in love with the concept and decided it would be time well spent to craft my own.

I made this shadow cloud as an anniversary gift for my now wife. It features the first initial of our names on two of the sides, and a heart on the third. This piece is about 5 inches on each side, was designed in Solidworks, and 3D printed. After I drew up the basic shape, most of my design time was spent carving away at the lattice work while ensuring it was still structurally sound.
